Hello, and some background

From my earliest memories, I possessed an insatiable curiosity that extended far beyond the typical childhood whims. New discoveries held a magnetic pull on me, often diverting my attention like a moth to a flame – a phenomenon commonly known as the "shiny object syndrome." This trait, a double-edged sword, has proven to be both an asset and a challenge throughout my life.

In retrospect, it's clear that my neurodivergent nature eluded not only my awareness but that of my parents as well. Growing up during an era where terms like "hyper" were assigned to a select few schoolmates, most of whom were boys, masked the broader understanding of neurodiversity. Consequently, I often grappled with feelings of being an outsider, a sense that I didn't quite fit into the conventional mold. Yet, rather than conforming, I charted my own course, forging an uncharted path.

It wasn't until the extended period of isolation caused by the onset of COVID-19 that the veil lifted. Suddenly, the coping mechanisms I had unconsciously developed, like unspoken companions, vanished into thin air, leaving me untethered and besieged by anxiety and self-doubt.

In recent years, a remarkable transformation has begun to unfold – a gradual embrace of my unique cognitive landscape, coupled with a purposeful cultivation of skills, partly necessitated by a brain injury, to seamlessly blend newfound insights. Within this space, I invite you to accompany me on my lifelong odyssey of learning, sharing aspirations, and navigating growth, along with a generous helping of self-deprecating humor, the occasional well-placed snarky come back, and even a smattering of dad jokes for good measure.

My goal? To offer you an authentic glimpse into the kaleidoscope of roles I embrace – as a mother, a wife, a colleague, an artist, and, above all, as a fellow human. If my experiences resonate, or if my journey sparks a connection, then I consider this new endeavor a resounding success.

So, here's to the beautiful symphony of life, with all its quirks and harmonies. Your presence here is greatly appreciated – a testament to the collective stories and shared experiences that unite us all.

Thank you for being part of this journey.

With gratitude,

Xo
